Housing Consultant for Design for Manufacture

The Design for Manufacture competition (launched 2005) was an HCA (now Homes England) initiative challenging developers to build high-quality, sustainable homes for a £60,000 construction cost, aiming to modernize construction and improve housing affordability. The competition focused on innovative design, off-site manufacturing, and high environmental standards. My role for the HCA was Quality Standards Inspector across the 10 sites. I produced the proposal and programme for the auditing and monitoring of the Design for Manufacture Competition. I developed the auditing methodology using English Partnerships Quality Standards: Lifetime Homes, Space Standards, Code for Sustainable Homes, BRE Green Specification Guide, Secure by Design and Building for Life. We also analysed the different MMC used across the 10 sites. The data collated resulted in a Lessons Learnt publication and subsequent placemaking guides for English Partnerships and Homes & Community Agency.
